【概要】


日本の風土と私の「個」とのつながりを見つめて展示《ゼロポイント。

若狭慎一は108の小さな断片、成長の変化やデジタル社会で揺れる心を背景に、「無」という言葉の新しい意味を探ります。

このプロジェクトは、日本では古くから大切にされ続けてきた「環境との調和」の考え方に思いを馳せるものです。日本では、山や川、四季や人々と呼吸を合わせながら、自然や集団の中に自分を感じるアニミズム的概念「和」が長く続いてきました。


経済成長の終わりとともに、私たちは「何を信じて生きるのか」という大切な問いから少し距離を置くようになりました。 1980年代に生まれた作家は、情報があふれる今の社会で、みんなが発信者でありながらも、孤独を感じるという現実を見つめています。

集団の中での調和や同じ考えを共有することの価値が薄れていく今、まず「自分を周りって[ a]きた環境とは何か」が広く知られていない。



人間は環境の産物です、、

作家（若狭慎一）にとって日本という風土は、

とりあえずあった作品だ。

の重さ、陰翳の深さ、

祈りの静けさ、自然への畏れ。

目に見えなくても、

胸の奥に息づき、

私たちの心を込めたもの。

もしものが、

風土の声となり、

作品になってわかる

  

風土と個の背景を考えて慎重に展示《ゼロポイント。

文化と、近代以降の外来思想や社会変革の中で揺れ動く「個」のあり方に取り組むものです。

「無」とは虚無ではなく、意味や感情が再び立ち上がるための余白であり、そこから世界は静かに再生を始める。

Shinichi Wakasa
Born in Hiroshima in 1982, Shinichi Wakasa studied traditional Japanese painting techniques at Hiroshima City University. His graduation work was purchased by the university, recognizing him as the top student. After graduating, he won the runner-up prize at the “Debut” public exhibition organized by Monthly Bijutsu magazine. Since then, he has actively exhibited both domestically and internationally. Wakasa has collaborated widely, including providing original designs for the traditional craft workshop “Nagasou Shukoubou,” partnering with the New York fashion brand “sawa takai,” and working with MEMUSE, produced by Risa Aizawa of the group Dempagumi.inc. Recently, he created a large mural for Asobiru, a multi-purpose entertainment complex directly connected to Yokohama Station.

• 2008: Graduated from Hiroshima City University, Faculty of Arts, Japanese Painting Major
• 2010: Completed Master’s Program, Hiroshima City University Graduate School
• 2013: Completed coursework for Doctoral Program, Hiroshima City University Graduate School (withdrew before degree completion)

【プロフィール】

　若佐慎一
1982年広島生まれ。大学で日本の伝統画法を学び、卒業制作を同大学の首席に当たる買い上げとなる。
卒業後、月刊美術主催公募展「デビュー」にて準グランプリ受賞。
その後国内外問わず発表の場を広げ、伝統工芸の「長艸繍巧房」への原画提供や、NYのファッションブランド「sawa takai 」、でんぱ組.incの相沢梨紗が手がける「MEMUSE」とのコラボなど多岐にわたる活動を見せ、近年は横浜駅直結の複合型エンターテイメント施設「アソビル」で巨大壁画を制作する。

Overview
This exhibition, Zero Point., reflects on the connection between Japan’s natural environment and my sense of self.
Through 108 small fragments, Shinichi Wakasa explores a new meaning of the word “Mu” (nothingness), inspired by societal growth, change, and the unsettled feelings in today’s digital world.
This project invites contemplation on the long-held Japanese value of living in harmony with our surroundings. In Japan, the animistic concept of wa—a feeling of unity with mountains, rivers, the seasons, and people—has endured for centuries.
With the end of economic growth, we have distanced ourselves from the fundamental question: “What do we believe in to live by?” Wakasa, born in the 1980s, faces the paradox of a society overflowing with information, where everyone is a broadcaster yet still experiences loneliness.
As the importance of harmony within groups and shared beliefs diminishes, there is little widespread awareness of the environments that shape us.
Humans are products of their environment.
For me (the artist Shinichi Wakasa), Japan’s landscape is the origin of creation—
the weight of humidity, the depth of shadow,
the stillness of prayer, reverence for nature.
Though unseen, these reside deep in our hearts,
shaping the fabric of our spirit.
These elements become the voice of the landscape,
resonating through the work.
Zero Point. is a careful reconsideration of the background of environment and individuality. It addresses Japan’s cultural spirit of harmony and the shifting nature of the individual amid modern foreign ideas and social transformations.
